Paper Feeding preferences of the marine gastropod Aplysia vaccaria
Course Biology 498: Senior Thesis
Supporting Faculty Dr. Zacherl

Meredith's paper is a study of feeding preferences of Aplysia vaccaria (Black Sea Hare) to determine the potential impact these herbivores have on marine ecosystems. She conducted sophisticated experiments (feeding trials) to determine if the sea hares preferred to consume particular types of algae.

Comments from Dr. Zacherl's support letter:

“[Meredith] quickly proved herself to be a serious and sophisticated scholar....Given very little guidance, she designed her own study, frequently accessing the primary literature to ensure that her methods were on par with those in the published literature.... I was always completely impressed with Meredith's ability to hone in on the required information, extract it, and place it in the context of her research goals."
