The Pollak Library Prize for Undergraduate Research Papers & Projects was established in 2006 to recognize excellent research and use of library resources by Cal State Fullerton undergraduate students. The 3rd annual competition is underway and students are invited to submit entries before the deadline of April 11, 2008. The Library will honor three individuals with awards of $1,000 (first place), $500 (second place), and $300 (third place) at an awards ceremony during the first week of May.
The Library Prize is unique in that it focuses on students' research processes and use of library resources. It gives recognition, beyond the classroom, to students who effectively retrieve, organize, and evaluate information in the complex academic research environment. Along with a copy of their papers or projects, students must write a 350-500 word essay describing their research strategies and use of library databases, books, journals, archival material, Web sites, or other resources. Each student is also required to submit a Faculty Support Form which will include the instructor's comments on the student's work.
Faculty are encouraged to refer their students to the Library's Web site for more information about the prize, including application guidelines and entry forms, at www.library.fullerton.edu/libraryprize.
