New Databases & Electronic Resources

Pollak Library continues to add new electronic resources. In addition, some of our continuing databases now have enhanced content. For example, Academic Search Premier, with 4,500 journals, has replaced Academic Search Elite, which has 2,000 journals, and SAGE Journals Online, with 460 journals, integrates the previous psychology and education journal packages and offers additional titles.

  • Academic Search Premier
    • Current and retrospective—back to 1975—indexing for more than 8,200 journals, with full text for nearly 4,500 titles. This is an upgrade that more than doubles existing access provided by our previous subscription to Academic Search Elite.
  • Art Index Retrospective 1929-1984
    • This is the online version of the original print edition; it indexes close to 600 periodicals and provides links to full text when available.
  • Blackwell Synergy
    • Online database containing full text of over 850 journals in a broad range of fields, most of which are published by Blackwell Publishing; includes current access as well as back files of 8-10 years on average.
  • Book Review Digest Retrospective 1905-1982
    • This is the online version of the original print edition; it covers approximately 300,000 books reviewed in over 500 periodicals and provides links to full text when available.
  • Business Full Text (Wilson)
    • This database provides indexing and abstracting of articles from over 800 English-language business magazines, trade and research journals, as well as full text of selected periodicals.
  • Business Source Premier (EBSCO)
    • This database provides full-text coverage for more than 2,300 journals, including Harvard Business Review and California Management Review, in all disciplines of business.
  • CRC Handbook
    • Online version of the print resource containing data on properties of inorganic and organic compounds.
  • EconLit with Full-Text
    • This database contains the indexing available from the previous OCLC version and is enhanced by full text for more than 400 publications, including titles from the American Economic Association.
  • Education Full Text (Wilson)
    • This database provides indexing and abstracting of articles and books in various aspects of education from 1994 to the present; full text coverage is also available from 1996 to the present.
  • Education Journals Online (Sage)
    • This database contains the full text of 23 peer-reviewed journals published by SAGE and participating societies.
  • EOLSS [UNESCO]
    • Multidisciplinary database produced by UNESCO; dedicated to health, maintenance, and future life on planet Earth.
  • General Science Full Text (Wilson)
    • This database contains information regarding science focusing on an audience of students and non-specialists. It provides indexing and abstracting from 1984 to the present and full text from 1994 to the present.
  • Humanities & Social Sciences Index Retrospective 1907-1984
    • This is the online version of the original print edition; indexes nearly 1,200 periodicals and provides links to full text when available.
  • Humanities Full Text (Wilson)
    • This database provides indexing and abstracting for humanities related periodicals, including history, philosophy, literature, and more, with full-text coverage beginning in 1995.
  • International Index to Black Periodicals Full Text
    • This database provides indexing and full text drawn from over 150 international scholarly and popular periodicals in Black Studies.
  • OmniFile Full Text, Mega Edition (Wilson)
    • This database provides indexing, abstracting, and full-text page images from over 4,000 journals, dating from the present back to 1982. OmniFile also aggregates content from Wilson’s Education, General Science, Humanities, Readers’ Guide, Social Sciences, and Business Full-Text databases.
  • PapersInvited
    • This database provides detailed information on forthcoming conferences and special issues of scholarly journals, including submission deadlines. PapersInvited covers around 10,000 conferences internationally and 1,500 special issues per year.
  • Patty's Toxicology
    • Patty's Toxicology is the standard reference for occupational health and toxicology professionals.
  • PILOTS [Published International Literature on Traumatic Stress] (CSA)
    • The PILOTS database includes citations to all literature on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other mental-health sequelae of traumatic events, without disciplinary, linguistic, or geographical limitations, providing both current and retrospective coverage. It is produced at the headquarters of the National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Reference Universe
    • This database facilitates searching over 1,700 electronic reference works and more than 10,000 works total, providing links to the Library’s online and print reference collections.
  • Psychology Journals Online (Sage)
    • Access to full-text psychological journals published by SAGE.
  • SAGE Journals Online
    • Access to full text of over 460 journals, published by SAGE, in a variety of disciplines.
  • Social Sciences Full Text (Wilson)
    • This database provides access to information from a wide range of fields covered in social science journals; abstracting coverage starts in 1994 and full text coverage begins in 1995.
  • Tests in Print
    • Comprehensive bibliography, with detailed information on all known commercially available tests in the English language, and an effective complement to online reviews found in Mental Measurements Yearbook.

  • Dun & Bradstreet Million Dollar Database: Premier [National] Edition
    • Upgrade from existing subscription to cover 1.8 million companies nationwide.
  • Early American Newspapers--Series IV and V
    • Fully searchable cover-to-cover digital reproductions that enhance coverage provided by previously purchased Series I, II, and III. Entire series covers 1690-1922.
  • Gale Virtual Reference Library
    • Enhancement of titles to include over 210 reference e-books across nearly every academic discipline.
  • Project Muse Premium Collection
    • Now includes 10 new full-text and peer-reviewed journals in the humanities and social sciences.
  • Resources for College Libraries
    • Revised and updated version of print publication, Books for College Libraries, that identifies 65,000 core titles in 58 curriculum-specific subject areas.
  • Safari Tech Books Online
    • Increase in number of titles from 400 to over 1,350.
